We run a one-day course for Brompton owners covering basic skills for general bike maintenance, as well as those special skills needed for looking after your Brompton, from rear-wheel removal and replacement, to gear issues, brakes and chains, including replacing chains, gear and brake cables, and brake blocks. We’re also happy to cover any other problems you might have on your bike, such as removal and replacement of bottom brackets, and tightening loose headsets.
As with many of our other classes, the session starts at 10am on a Saturday (unless otherwise specified), and takes place in our Greenford workshop. In fact, our workshop is just down the road from the Brompton factory in Greenford.
The price is a very competitive £50, which explains why places go rather quickly!
The next class is August the 17th. After that, the dates are September the 28th, and November the 16th. If you and a group of friends would like to book a one-off Brompton class for yourselves on a Saturday which is currently free, let us know, and if at least four people book and pay two weeks in advance, we can get it scheduled in.
Like all our courses, the Brompton one is very hands-on – you will be working on your own bike. If you don’t yet own a Brompton, we will usually have a Brommie you can work on during the class.
Please note – we’re now asking people to pay a deposit of £50 (which covers the cost of the class, and is returnable in full if London Bike Hub cancels the course) to secure their booking for these classes. If the deposit isn’t paid within 48hrs of the booking being made, the booking will be cancelled, as we’re finding a number of people have been booking places and then not showing up or responding to our efforts to contact them, which is unfair on those others we have to turn away once a class is fully booked.
Paying your deposit
The deposit can be paid by Paypal (to firstname.lastname@example.org), or via bank transfer to London Bike Hub, sort code 08-92-99, and account number 65441099. Please use your initials, along with the first few letters of the course title, as your payment reference. We can take the deposit as cash, if you drop it by the workshop at least a couple of weeks ahead of the course.
